High-Quality 18-Carat Gold Overlay (Doublé)
This piece of jewellery is finished with an approx. 5 µm thick gold overlay made of 18-carat gold (75% fine gold). With this layer thickness, the gold overlay represents a high-quality finish and is referred to as doublé in the jewellery sector. The finishing is carried out by a specialized electroplating company in Pforzheim, Germany. First, a palladium layer is applied as a protective and barrier layer, followed by the gold overlay. This creates an even, durable surface with a warm, rich colour.
Ornamental Metal Elements
This piece of jewellery contains ornamental metal elements that are still produced today by specialized German manufacturers using original, mostly hand-engraved steel dies and historic pressing moulds. Many of the forms used by DOLL UP SISTER were created between approximately 1880 and 1960. Numerous ornaments of this kind were designed and produced, among others, for important Parisian fashion houses. The production of such dies was regarded as a highly specialized art of steel engraving: ornaments and reliefs had to be cut precisely by hand into hardened steel, in reverse and as a negative, with no possibility of correction. For DOLL UP SISTER, the elements produced from these historic tools are carefully researched, selected and curated for use in the collection.
Zirconia – Modern Brilliance
Zirconia captivates with its exceptional brilliance and lively sparkle, visually reminiscent of a diamond. This laboratory-created jewellery stone is robust, suitable for everyday wear and distinguished by its clear, even surface. DOLL UP SISTER deliberately uses zirconia for its precise visual effect and modern appearance.
