High-quality 18-carat gold plating (Doublé)
This piece of jewellery is finished with a 5 µm-thick layer of 18-carat gold (75% fine gold). With this layer thickness, the gold plating represents a high-quality finish and is referred to in the jewellery sector as Doublé.
The finishing is carried out by a specialised electroplating company in Pforzheim, with whom we have worked for many years. First, a palladium layer is applied as a protective and barrier layer, followed by the gold plating. This creates an even, durable surface.
Compared with simple gold plating, this finish is distinguished by its layer thickness, high durability and warm, deep colour.
Shell pearls – natural imitation with a fine lustre
Shell pearls are made from natural mother-of-pearl – the inner material of mollusc shells. The core gives the pearls a weight similar to their natural counterparts as well as an even, precise shape. A fine finishing process creates a subtle lustre with a smooth surface and clear colours. As a natural imitation, they combine the aesthetic of classic pearls with excellent suitability for everyday wear. Only particularly high-quality grades are selected for Doll Up Sister.
Ornamental metal elements
This piece of jewellery contains ornamental metal elements that are still produced today by specialised manufacturers using original, mostly hand-engraved steel dies and historic pressing tools. Many of the forms used by Doll Up Sister were created between approximately 1880 and 1960. Numerous of these ornaments were designed and produced for major Parisian fashion houses, among others. For Doll Up Sister, elements from these specialised manufacturers are deliberately researched, selected and curated.
To preserve the beauty of your product in the long term, we recommend storing it in its packaging after wear. This protects it from prolonged exposure to light, scratches, and moisture, ensuring you enjoy it for a long time.
Due to varying screen settings, the colours of the original pieces may differ from those shown in the image. Please note that each of our pieces is handmade, so slight variations from the pictured model may occur.
Jewelry is not a toy, so improper use may cause small parts to detach and be swallowed.

Manufacturing Details:
High-Quality 18k Gold Plating (Doublé)
This piece of jewellery is finished with an approx. 5 µm thick layer of 18k gold (75% pure gold). At this thickness, the plating represents a high-quality finish and is referred to in the jewellery field as Doublé.
The finishing process takes place in a specialized electroplating facility in Pforzheim, with which we have worked for many years. First, a palladium layer is applied as a protective and barrier layer, followed by the gold plating. This results in an even and durable surface.
Production is carried out deliberately in a long-standing partner company in Germany under controlled conditions.
Compared to simple plating, this finish is characterized by a higher gold content, strong durability, and a warm, deep color effect.
Shell Pearls—natural imitation with refined lustre
Shell pearls are made from natural mother-of-pearl, the inner material of mollusc shells. The core is based on this material and gives the pearls a weight comparable to natural pearls as well as a precise, uniform shape.
A refined finishing process creates a soft, even lustre with a smooth surface and clear, consistent colour. As a natural imitation, they combine the aesthetic qualities of classic pearls with durability suitable for everyday wear.
For Doll Up Sister, only carefully selected high-grade qualities are used.
Ornamental Metal Elements
This piece of jewellery contains ornamental metal elements that are still produced today by specialized manufacturers using original hand-engraved steel matrices and historical press tools. Many of the forms used by Doll Up Sister were created between approximately 1880 and 1960. A number of these ornaments were originally designed and produced for renowned Parisian fashion houses.
The production of such matrices was considered a highly specialized art of steel engraving: ornaments and reliefs had to be precisely cut by hand into hardened steel in reverse, as negative forms, and without any possibility of correction. The engraver was often also the pattern designer, developing ornamental motifs directly for jewellery and couture.
For Doll Up Sister, the elements of such specialized manufacturers are consciously researched and curated.
